Guided Nature Walks

2011_07_05-14_28_33-2551_galapagos-islands_isabela-tagus-cove-Nathab-www-komar-org

Everyday Ecoventura’s guides lead two multi-hour nature walks around the island we’ve called upon.  You may explore lava fields, hike alongside cliffs, stroll along a secluded beach or experience close encounters with Galapagos wildlife.  You’ll spend as much time walking as you do photographing the scenery and the fauna, watching for fare birds, and enjoying entertaining lectures from our expert guides, all while in a small group of no more than ten guests per guide.

Snorkeling

For many travelers, snorkeling in the Galapagos Marine Reserve is the highlight of the expedition offered from the beach or in deeper water.  Observe the underwater world untethered during a snorkel trip with Ecoventura-provided gear, swimming alongside native sea turtles, playful sea lions, endemic marine iguanas and the world’s second smallest penguins.

Sea Kayaking

kayaks

Explore the Galapagos by way of double or single “sit-on-top” kayaks.  After a brief tutorial, your naturalists sets you free to explore the islands’ secret coves and colorful shoreline.  Travelers can look forward to calm coves, warm seas, frequent wildlife spotting, and a get in solid workout.

Zodiac Rides

Galapagos Islands, Landing on San Cristobal

Board an inflatable dinght, or panga as they are known in Galapagos, to access the islands from our expedition yachts.  We use these small, low-impact dinghies to reach the shore, explore mangrove estuaries, and caves.   Dont miss the opportunity for a dinghy ride at Black Turtle Cove, Elizabeth Bay or Baroness Point.  At the mangrove estuary we turn off the engines and paddle while looking  for green sea turtles mating, golden ray schools, sleeping reef sharks and many other wonderful creatures that inhabit these areas.

Stand up Paddle Boards

Each Ecoventura yacht has two Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUPs) that can be used in the Galapagos on board our yachts, in the designated areas where we use our Kayaks now!  We purchased these boards  in anticipation of being approved by the park and then had them waiting in storage all this time.  Ecoventura is the first tour boat operator to have SUPs on board in the Galapagos.

Scuba Diving

The Galapagos archipelago is located where major ocean currents come together — combining cold waters from the south with warm currents from the north and cooler currents from the west. Scuba enthusiasts flock to the Galapagos Islands to experience diving encounters unlike anywhere else on earth.  We offer experienced scuba divers our dedicated scuba Live aboard – the 16-passenger luxury vessel, M/V Galapagos Sky.  Spend 3-4 days diving Wolf and Darwin (on every trip) for whale sharks, schooling hammerheads, and manta rays.

Glass Bottom Boat

Travelers onboard the MV Origin & Theory can watch for reef sharks, golden rays, and marine iguanas from the comfort of our brand new glass-bottom boat. Photograph and admire the marine life from this incredible zodiac as you sail to hidden caverns and quiet mangrove estuaries.

Whale Watching

Whale (and dolphin) watching is one of the most exhilarating and unforgettable experiences of a lifetime. Marine mammals sitings of Bryde’s, Sperm, Orcas, and dolphins can happen anywhere in the islands year-round. The best time and place to see Blue and Humpback whales is between June and December when they migrate through the Boliver Channel between Isabela and Fernandina.
