Ecoventura 2009 Global Vision Award – Green Cruising
Ecoventura is the recipient of Travel + Leisure’s fifth annual 2009 Global Vision Award for Green Cruising.
The company is one of 17 winners named in a variety of categories to receive accolades for its trend-setting commitment to sustainable tourism. Global Vision Award winners are featured in the November 2009 issue of Travel + Leisure magazine.

Ecoventura was awarded with the Conde Nast Traveler’s 3rd Annual World Savers Award in the category of Best Overall Cruise Lines. This award recognizes their ongoing mission to be the pacesetter for responsible tourism in the Galapagos Islands. Ecoventura was featured in September 2009 issue of the magazine and noted as exceptional in the areas of education, poverty, preservation and health.

In 2009, Ecoventura was featured in the September issue of Conde Nast Traveller and at the 3rd annual Conde Nast World Saver 2009 award presentation as the top scoring cruise line. (the panel of judges noted the company was exceptional in education, preservation, poverty and health).

2008 Best in a Marine Environment
Ecoventura has won in the Best in a Marine Environment category at this year’s Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards organized by responsibletravel.com. At a ceremony hosted during World Travel Market (WTM), on November 12, 2008, distinguished judges noted that Ecoventura contributes to scholarships for education and helps local women develop micro-businesses as well as being among the first cruise operators to be independently audited.

On November 12, 2008, Ecoventura was presented with the Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism – Best in a Marine Environment award during World Travel Market in London Excel with distinguished judges that noted Ecoventura contributes toward improving conditions for local people in Galapagos and for being among the first operators to be independently audited. In accepted his award, Santiago Dunn stated, “we as a company are both humbled and energized by this prestigious award.” “It is wonderful to be recognized for our past efforts, but our groundbreaking work on setting the bar for responsible tourism in Galapagos has just begun.

In 2010, Ecoventura’s President, Santiago Dunn was recognized by the International Ecotourism Society (TIES) as a finalist in the Innovation Award.

In 2005, The Rainforest Alliance presented Santiago Dunn, President of Ecoventura, with the prestigious Individual Sustainable Standard-Setter for making a significant contribution to environmental conservation and sustainability. Santiago Dunn says his goal was to inspire others as well as to be part of the solution for the issues facing tourism in Galapagos. It was a big commitment to participate initially in the SmartVoyager program because it added considerable costs to the operation as well as an initial investment. However, our involvement only motivated us to continue striving to reduce the impact of our operation on the environment.
